Megan Murphy

Megan Murphy is currently the Business Development Manager for Miawpukek Horizon. With a focus on developing business for the multi-functional vessel Polar Prince and developing commercial growth opportunities, her goal is to help MHMS execute their mission to maximize Indigenous participation in Canada’s Blue Economy.

With a degree in Linguistics and Business from Memorial University and a Canadian Armed Forces veteran who was stationed out of Oromocto, NB, she moved back to her home province of NL to build a family operated research vessel company. She also holds a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from UNB. She has led Real-Time Ocean Data Services Ltd to success and excessive growth in the marine industry in the CEO position along with managing the business side of RS Marine Ltd, a multimillion-dollar fishing enterprise. She has also been nominated for the 2024 RBC Woman of Influence – Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.

A mother of 3 boys aged 5 and under, she is no stranger to building a business from the ground up while raising a young family. Her extensive experience in the research vessel industry coupled with her indigenous engagement, she will be a valuable asset to the board along with all the members of Oceans Advance and she is looking forward to using her skill sets for positive growth in the blue economy under the Ocean’s Advance mandate.
