Brian Burke

Brian joined Qikiqtaaluk Corporation (QC) in September 2022 as Senior Project Manager, responsible for development and oversight of QC’s portfolio of Fisheries Division projects. 

Qikiqtaaluk Corporation is the Inuit Birthright Corporation for the Qikiqtani region of Nunavut, the for-profit arm of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA), with a mission to create meaningful economic, employment and career development opportunities for the region’s 15,500 Inuit.

Brian previously held the position of Executive Director for the Nunavut Fisheries Association (NFA), representing Nunavut’s 100% Inuit owned $100M commercial fishing industry.  Brian joined NFA in December 2016 and prior to that was Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) for the Ocean Technology and Arctic Opportunities branch and Assistant Deputy Minister (Acting) for the Innovation and Sector Development branch of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development.  He joined BTCRD in 2014 from the private sector where he managed his own consulting company for 15 years.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree and Master of Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
