Marcel Montrose is an accomplished maritime industry leader, currently serving as General Manager at Glovertown Shipyard Ltd. and Founder of Lir Maritime Consulting Ltd. With expertise spanning shipbuilding, vessel operations, ocean technology, and regulatory compliance, he has built a career dedicated to advancing marine innovation and optimizing maritime projects.
As a Board Member of Oceans Advance, Marcel contributes strategic insight to support Newfoundland and Labrador’s ocean technology sector, fostering collaboration across industry, academia, and government. His diverse background includes leadership roles in shipbuilding, engineering management, and marine systems design, with key contributions to Canadian Coast Guard, naval, and commercial vessel initiatives.
Throughout his career, Marcel has remained engaged in various professional associations and boards, including the PSPC Marine Industry Advisory Committee, Oceans Advance Industry Advisory Council, and the Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association (AC-ADA). He has also made lasting contributions to organizations such as the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), having held leadership roles and shaped industry conversations.
With a passion for advancing maritime practices and supporting innovation, Marcel brings a wealth of technical expertise and industry experience to the Oceans Advance Board of Directors.
