CanExport Innovation Opening September 2, 2025
CanExport is pleased to inform you that CanExport Innovation (CXI) will reopen for a new intake period on September 2, 2025. Applications will be accepted until the projected funding allocation for this period has been fully reached. Innovators from Canadian organizations may access up to $75,000 in funding to assist with research and development (R&D) for a single technology. We cover up to 75% of costs to pursue and sign collaborative R&D agreements with international partners.
Key Details for the September 2025 Intake
- Full program details and eligibility requirements can be found in the Applicant’s Guide.
- There is no target market prioritization for this intake.
- The portal will close to new applications once we reach a projected threshold of in-progress submissions. Clients who have already begun their application will be given one week to finalize and submit. We strongly encourage clients to begin early to avoid missing the intake window.
- Account registration can be completed at any time. First-time applicants are encouraged to register in advance to complete the basic eligibility stage before the portal opens.
- A sample application form is attached to assist in preparing a submission.

Horizon Europe Funding and Events
Please find below information on the Mitacs Horizon Europe International Mobility Award (IMA). We encourage you to apply and look forward to more Canada-EU collaboration in Horizon Europe.
This new funding opportunity is designed to connect Canadian researchers and innovators with Horizon Europe by providing support to connect with collaborators in-market. Through the IMA, eligible Canadian faculty members and SME representatives can access up to $10,000 CAD ($5,000 CAD per individual traveler) in funding to support travel, and participation in consortia-building activities tied to Horizon Europe projects.
Eligible costs include airfare, accommodation, event registration fees, and other mobility-related expenses that enable Canadian researchers to build partnerships with European institutions and industry leaders. The award is open to faculty at eligible Canadian universities and representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in R&D activities. Successful applicants will gain opportunities to attend Horizon Europe events, connect with large-scale consortia, and collaborate on proposals in the 2026-2027 work programme.
