International Clean Mobility Study
Oceans Advance, in partnership with Angler Solutions Inc. and supported by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Green Transition Fund, drove the International Clean Mobility Study Program in collaboration with leading partners in the United Kingdom and Europe.
This initiative tackled a critical challenge that helped to identify practical, credible pathways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Newfoundland and Labrador’s marine sector.
Bringing together global best practices, rigorous technical analysis, and deep local industry insight, the study evaluated clean propulsion technologies, alternative fuels, and efficiency measures across key vessel classes, including fishing vessels, ferries, offshore support vessels, tankers, and cargo ships. Through international research and a series of expert workshops uniting industry, academia, and government, the program delivered a clear, evidence-based foundation for marine decarbonization in the province.
This work firmly positions Newfoundland and Labrador as an active contributor to international clean shipping efforts and lays the groundwork for locally grounded, scalable demonstration projects that will strengthen the province’s ocean innovation ecosystem.
