(Paris, France; 24 March 2014) The World Ocean Council is advancing the role of industry in gathering Arctic ocean, weather and climate data by:
- Convening a roundtable on data collection from vessels at the Arctic Shipping Forum (Helsinki, 8-10 April, 2014)
- Leading discussions on science and industry collaboration on ocean/climate observations at the Arctic Observing Summit (Helsinki, 9-11 April, 2014)
The roundtable on “Smart Ocean / Smart Industries: Arctic Ocean and climate data collection from vessels” will take place on the afternoon of 10 April at the 10th Arctic Shipping Forum (ASF). For more information CLICK HERE.
The WOC will be informing and engaging the Arctic science and observing community on the WOC Smart Ocean-Smart Industries efforts on 11 April at the Arctic Observing Summit (AOS).

The WOC is working with the organizers of these events that take place in Helsinki the same week to develop interaction between the events and between industry and science – exemplary of the WOC mission to build interaction between the ocean business community and other ocean stakeholders. WOC is encouraging scientists to participate in the ASF and shipping industry representatives to participate in the AOS.
