Brenda Baird joined OceansAdvance as administrative officer effective 16 Sept. 2013 as the replacement for Cathy Hogan who is on secondment until January 2015 as project manager for OCEANS’14.
Many members of the ocean cluster will know Brenda from the Research & Development Corporation (RDC) where, since 2010, she served as executive assistant to CEO Glenn Janes. In that position she was in constant contact with the province’s key R&D stakeholders from business, academia, government departments and agencies.
During her 27-year career in the hospitality industry Brenda demonstrated her administrative skills as convention services manager; special events coordinator; manager, administrative services and public relations. She was a key coordinator for many high profile events such as the 1997 Royal Visit and major fundraising events such as the annual Cabot Club Gala in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Brenda’s areas of focus are primarily in administrative support at the senior executive level, event planning, and stakeholder relations. She has been certified by the American Hotel/Motel Association as hospitality supervisor (CHS) and by the Professional Convention Management Association as a meeting professional (CMP).
Brenda lives in the Goulds with her husband, Dave, and their two children.
