September 23, 201, St. John’s, NL: The Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, is travelling to San Diego today to attend the OCEANS ’13 MTS/IEEE conference, one of the world’s most diverse and prestigious ocean-technology focused conferences.
Minister Hutchings will deliver several presentations that will promote the province’s expanding ocean technology sector, Arctic exploration potential, as well as to invite delegates to next year’s OCEANS’14 MTS/IEEE, conference, which will be held September 14-19, 2014, in St. John’s.
“The Provincial Government stands firmly behind our ocean technology sector,” said Minister Hutchings. “With ingenuity, experience and determination, we have transformed the challenges of working with and from the sea into opportunities and competitive advantages.”
Taking place September 23 to 26 in San Diego, California, OCEANS ’13 MTS/IEEE is a major forum for scientists, engineers and business leaders to gather and exchange their knowledge and ideas regarding the future of the world’s oceans. With an audience representing 46 countries, this year’s conference is the largest to date with over 2,000 delegates anticipated to attend. Themed An Ocean in Common, OCEANS ’13 MTS/IEEE is jointly sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Oceanic Engineering Society, as well as the Marine Technology Society.
