The Atlantic Canadian business delegation is off to Panama, March 25, for a five-day business mission under the International Business Development Agreement, and includes three Newfoundland and Labrador companies participating in this Pan-Atlantic trade mission.

Among the key sectors in Panama of interest to OceansAdvance members are ship building, ICT, construction materials and services, and environmental services.

In addition to the Panama Canal Expansion and its many spin-offs to industry, there are a large number of both private and public construction projects underway. Public Investment in these projects accounts for $7.4 Billion and private investment accounts for an additional $5.9 Billion. Planned public projects on the books, according to Panamanian sources, are valued at an additional $2.7 Billion.

The delegates  will participate in several business building opportunties including:

  • Business matchmaking services: An in-market expert will set up a personalized agenda with possible buyers, distributors and partners to meet companies’ specific goals and objectives
  • In-market ground transportation
  • Networking opportunities at an Atlantic Canadian reception held in Panama

A news release from IBRD outlining the highlights of the mission will be released once the delegation returns.
