Please join us to discuss how Canada’s ocean industries can become a world leader in gender diversity by fostering a talent pipeline for people who are underrepresented in Canada’s ocean sectors – especially women, as well as people who identify as Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, racialized, and persons with disabilities, and who otherwise lack fair access to opportunities in Canada’s thriving ocean industries.

Hosted by the Canadian Women in Ocean Industries Leadership (CWOIL), there will be three upcoming consultations.

  • NL – Tuesday, September 20 – 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m at the National Research Council Blgd, Ocean , Coastal and River Engineering, MUN Campus.
  • B.C – Tuesday September 27 – 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 – Delta Ocean Pointe, Victoria, BC (Click here).
  • B.C – Tuesday, September 27 – 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 – Virtual (Click here for Zoom).

The purpose is to support the development of a national long-term action plan so women and underrepresented people can pursue and establish thriving, successful, well-paying careers in Canada’s ocean industries; fulfil their personal and professional potential, including as leaders and owners; and maximize their impact on Canada’s ocean sectors and national economy.

The project includes several phases of research and consultation through interviews and workshops across Canada. The action plan will be released during the first CWOIL Conference, being held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador from November 15-16, 2022, which will include expert speakers, workshops and affirmations to validate the strategy.

Your unique perspective is important and will contribute to strengthening Canada’s leadership and competitiveness in its ocean sectors through increased diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe you can provide real insights into how to operationalize this vision. We hope we can count on your input and support into this important initiative.

To RSVP for any of these consultation workshops, please contact communications@oceansadvance.net and identify which workshop you wish to attend.
