Lab2Market (L2M) is the first national-level program in Canada to fund and equip graduate students and their faculty supervisors with the entrepreneurial skills needed to assess the commercial viability of their university-based research innovations.  Lab2Market Oceans will fund entrepreneurial Ph.D. students and postdocs who have assessed that their university-based research innovations are commercially viable. Lab2Market Oceans will fund entrepreneurial Ph.D. students and postdocs who have assessed that their university-based research innovations are commercially viable. The Lab2Market Oceans program is team-based and experiential. Each team will consist of a student or postdoc (research/entrepreneurial lead), their supervisor (research advisor) and an industry mentor.

From now to May 31, Lab2Market Oceans is accepting applications from applicants and also seeking mentors to guide successful teams.

Dr. Paula Mendonça, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Memorial, and Darrell O’Neill, Project Manager, are leading Lab2Market Oceans. Lab2Market is a 2-year pilot program hosted by Ryerson, Dalhousie, and Memorial universities. At Memorial, the program will focus on ocean technology-related research, while Ryerson and Dalhousie’s streams are not focused on a particular sector or technology area. Memorial teams may apply to both streams.

Lab2Market Oceans is part of the new Ocean Startup Project, an initiative in partnership with Genesis, Innovacorp, Springboard Atlantic, Creative Destruction Lab, New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, and PEI BioAlliance.
