St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador
NEIA is hosting a research matching event at the Ramada in St. John’s on Dec 7. The session will provide an opportunity for firms and academic researchers to share information related to environmentally focussed research and innovations. Various government representatives from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development (IBRD), the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the provincial Research and Development Corporation (RDC), Mitacs and others will be on hand to outline their programs to support research, hire researchers, hire students, etc. We are expecting over 25 researchers in the broadly defined environmental sector and a number of firms. The researchers will be from just about every science related discipline – engineering, marine systems, geography, biology, food science, chemistry, geo / earth sciences, environmental studies, innovation, technology programs, etc.
The format for the day is interactive. There are no long presentations. The draft agenda is below but it is really just an unrushed discussion and a meal. Participating companies / organizations will complete the slide attached. Abbie (copied) will help firms / organizations complete it and lay it out if they want. The slide just has the logo, company name, a couple of sentences on what you do, and a couple of sentences on the types of research / supports the firm might be interested in. The researchers will each fill out a similar slide and we will facilitate some discussion. We try to match the firms with the appropriate researchers and funding partners to chat.
