In November 2014, Halifax will be host to the 5th International Conference on Ocean Energy (ICOE) – the most significant global event focused on marine renewable energy. Marine Renewables Canada is the host for this conference in partnership with the ICOE International Committee.
Planning and conference development activities are currently underway and the organizing committee is hosting a roundtable planning session on ICOE 10 Sept. 2013 at 2:00 pm (AST) with organizations that would like to keep up to date on its progress and details and may have an interest in getting involved. The session would serve to:
- Provide background and details on the conference structure, planning, program, side events/activities, gala dinner
- Solicit ideas on side event venues, promotion and marketing, tours and site visits
- Establish work groups for various tasks/activities including: Marketing & Promotions, Sponsorship, and Side Events
While it is still more than a month to this planning session, we invite interested companies to start thinking about ways that your organization may be able to assist in promoting this event, get involved and/or share ideas around side events, venues, event promotions, etc.
We will send an actual meeting invitation with location and conference call-in details in the coming month – please mark your calendar for September 10th at 2pm (AST)!
We hope to see you in September, but in the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions about ICOE or this proposed roundtable. More specific details about ICOE are attached and you can also visit the website (which will be replace by a more robust conference site this fall): www.icoe2014canada.org
More on ICOE
Held every two years, the goal of the conference and exhibition is to share recent experiences from marine renewable energy research, demonstration, and development efforts. It typically attracts 700-900 international participants representing industry, academia, and others interested in the development of marine renewable energy and the continuing research in this area.
Hosting ICOE 2014 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada will see the establishment of the first international marine renewable energy event in Canada and will highlight the role that Canada will play both domestically and internationally as the marine renewable energy sector matures with particular focus on world-leading activities in Nova Scotia.
ICOE is a large conference and presents numerous opportunities for organizations locally/regionally/nationally to get involved. It is also an excellent opportunity to promote the skills, culture, and attractions of our city, province, and country to international visitors.
