This is your invitation to experience the lastest expansion to our 12,000 year old test tank. The Oceans Holyrood Initiative (OHI) and Marine Institute (MI) have teamed-up to bring you a Day in the Bay.
It’s been a dozen millenia since a deep, freshwater fjord communed with the old, briny, North Atlantic Ocean to form the horseshoe–shaped harbour that today is home to one of the most advanced outdoor test tanks in Atlantic Canada–right here in the town of Holyrood.
Today the Town is building on the happy accident of nature and our rich maritime history and heritage to foster a progressive, Community of Practice for Cold Oceans Research and Technology.
Day in the Bay promises to be a unique technical and cultural experience where you will see some of the world’s most innovative and advanced oceans-related products in the waters of magnificent and historic Conception Bay, Newfoundland.
Day in the Bay will also give you an opportunity to get outside the city of St. John’s and experience rural Newfoundland, just 35 minutes from your downtown hotel.
In addition to the live demonstrations at this event you can attend the network reception and activities.
