The Canadian Program of Cyber Security Certification is the Government of Canada’s new contracting requirement to shore up the protection of unclassified information held by Canada’s defence suppliers. Once in place, the Program will introduce mandatory cyber security requirements in select defence contracts.

Join us for a presentation and Q&A with Joanne Lostracco, Director General of Public Service and Procurement Canada’s Washington Sector to find out more about this new initiative and what it means for the Canadian defence industry.

Cybersecurity is a critical issue in all areas of the maritime industry. Multiple control systems, protocols and standards, both onshore and offshore, sometimes operating independently, do little to build system resiliency. Adding to the risks is the advent of autonomous technology and remote operations. The Fisheries and Marine Institute is again hosting a seminar in St. John’s, NL to highlight and bring awareness to Canadian marine stakeholders of the risks of maritime cybersecurity and how to address them through collaborative education, training, and research.

To bring together cybersecurity experts and maritime stakeholders to gain knowledge of the issues in the industry

To discuss areas for collaborative innovation to enhance Canada’s maritime resiliency
To showcase the education, training, and research that can be utilized to address maritime cybersecurity

October 29, 2024 – Hear from experts in Canada and from around the world on cybersecurity challenges in the maritime industry and ways to overcome them.

Advancing technologies and the changing demands on the design, organization, and operations of safety-critical work systems, and the people within these work systems requires continual inputs and iterative cycles in order to ensure optimized human performance, safety and system functioning.

The Human Factors in Control (HFC) Canada Network is a knowledge sharing platform for stakeholders who have interests in these operations within the human factors context, with a particular focus on offshore and maritime sectors. Our aim is to engage together to share lessons learned and continue to advance knowledge to improve operational safety. We also welcome learnings from other relevant safety-critical domains such as aviation, road and rail transport, and other land-based operations.
