Oceans Advance Newsletter – Notice of AGM – April 17, 2024

Nominations are now open for four vacant positions on the board of Oceans Advance Inc. Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Each nominee must be a current member of Oceans Advance. 
  • Each nomination must have two references via email (a mover and a seconder) and both the mover & seconder must be members of Oceans Advance.
  • Each nominee must submit an email to Oceans Advance confirming acceptance; and
  • Each nominee must submit a short bio and headshot to Oceans Advance to have your name included on the ballot no later than April 26, 2024.

Nominations and supporting emails are required by 4:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024.   A list of candidates will be distributed to the voting membership by Wednesday, May 1, 2024, through Election Buddy.   

Deadline to vote is Friday, May 24, 2024, at 12:00 noon

INOVATION WAVES

Oceans Advance and our partners from the governments of Newfoundland & Labrador and Canada invite local technology companies and researchers to participate in an immersive ocean technology showcase event in St. John’s, NL May 29-31, 2024. Innovation Waves: Newfoundland & Labrador’s Ocean Technology Showcase will host delegations of businesses, industry groups and governmental agencies from the United Kingdom and beyond. 

This event will seek to introduce, connect, and familiarize attendees with the world leading educational and research institutes, ocean-related infrastructure, and world-leading ocean technology businesses in NL.  It will facilitate new business-to-business opportunities and international collaborations that may stimulate growth and economic activity in NL.

On Thursday, May 30th, there will be a business-to-business session for our local industry and research community, and we invite interested participants to register to attend.  There will be an online platform to support B2B activities and initial connections that every participant will have access to for engagement.  For more information on this exciting opportunity to showcase your technology and research to more than 40 companies from outside the country, and to register for the morning of May 30th, please contact Audra Murphy at [email protected]

Innovation Forum April 23-24, Vancouver Convention Centre

ABCMI in partnership with COAST will be providing two days of panels, speakers, and industry showcase presentations embracing emerging technologies and innovation in the ocean and marine space. Not only will this forum be for all those companies directly or indirectly involved in bringing innovative new products and services to market but also for all entrepreneurial businesses progressing through the Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) spectrum from idea to commercialization. The event will also feature plenty of networking opportunities with government and private sector entities as a well as a small trade show for exhibitors wanting to show off their cutting edge products.
