NOTICE of ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Nominations are now open for five vacant positions on the board of Oceans Advance Inc. Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Each nominee must be a current member of Oceans Advance.
- Each nomination must have two references via email (a mover and a seconder) and both the mover & seconder must be members of Oceans Advance.
- Each nominee must submit an email to Oceans Advance confirming acceptance; and
- Each nominee must submit a short bio and headshot to Oceans Advance to have your name included on the ballot no later than April 25, 2025.

Project Zero Econext Incubator
Econext is launching its first Circular Economy Incubator Program, a free, virtual, six-month initiative to support entrepreneurs in Newfoundland and Labrador who are developing businesses based on circular economy principles (reduce, reuse, repair, redistribute, recondition, recycle). Participants will receive 1-on-1 mentorship, guidance from industry experts, and develop a full business plan. The program concludes with a pitch competition offering a cash prize.
Applications open: March 3 – April 6, 2025
Program duration: May – December 2025 (virtual sessions every three weeks)

ICTC Wage Subsidy Program
ICTC’s WIL Digital student wage subsidy program offering subsidies of up to $7000 per student returns this year with Summer applications being accepted beginning March 3.
ICTC’s WIL Digital program returns this summer, providing student wage subsidies of up to $7,000 for employers hiring post-secondary students in digital economy-related roles (e.g., software, digital marketing, and more).
The subsidy covers up to up to $7,000 (70%) for underrepresented students or up to $5,000 (50%) for other eligible student. The program is open to full-time and part-time students in full-time or part-time positions however international students are not eligible.

CanExport SMEs and Oceantech R&D Partnering Delegation to France – June 2025 Call for ProposalsExpand Your Business with CanExport SMEs
The CanExport SMEs program, offered by Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) expand into new international markets by sharing costs for eligible business development activities. Successful applicants may receive up to $50,000 to support market expansion efforts.
The CanExport SMEs Program will be accepting applications, until May 31, 2025, at 5 pm EDT/6:30 pm NDT, for projects that begin on or after April 1, 2025.
Note:To better serve Canadian businesses and manage funding more efficiently, the CanExport SMEs program has made a number of changes to its guidelines, including a greater emphasis on export diversification, changes to eligible expenses, and new requirements for the validation of basic eligibility criteria.A new CanExport Applicant’s Guide will be available when the program is open to help guide applicants through the submission process. Canadian ocean observation technology research and development partnering delegation to France
Global Affairs Canada, through the Canadian Embassy in France and in collaboration with Canada’s Ocean Supercluster (OSC) and the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), invites you to apply to participate in the Canadian ocean observation technology research and development partnership delegation to France under the Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP).
The partnership development activity (PDA) will take place in person from June 4, 2025 to June 13, 2025 in France.
Companies wishing to participate must submit their application no later than April 13, 2025.

Ocean Idea Challenge 2025The Ocean Startup Project has launched applications for the 2025 Ocean Idea Challenge, supporting Canadian entrepreneurs, researchers, and technical experts in developing innovative solutions for key ocean challenges. Participants can receive up to $7,000 in funding, mentorship, and structured guidance to refine and validate their ideas.
Key areas of focus are: Renewable Ocean Energy, Sustainable Seafood, Decarbonized Marine Transportation, Marine Bioresources & Biotechnology, Autonomous Vessels & Robotics
The program is available to students, researchers, mid-career professionals, developers, and aspiring entrepreneurs. With the ideal solutions at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 3 or lower.
Applications are open until April 9, 2025 with the program running from April 21 – July 4, 2025.

Journal of Ocean Technology
Call for Content
The Journal of Ocean Technology (JOT) is seeking submissions for its Fall 2025 issue, focused on Maritime Security. Topics may include military and defense, port security, offshore infrastructure, cybersecurity, energy security, and emerging ocean technologies.
Submission Categories:Technical Papers (peer-reviewed) – Up to 7,500 words presenting original research.
Essays – Up to 3,000 words, providing insights on key issues
Short Articles – 400–800 words on technology advancements, viewpoints, or commentary
Deadlines:Technical Papers & Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Essays/Articles: May 16, 2025
Final Essay & Short Article Submissions (if accepted): July 18, 2025
All accepted papers will be open access and accessible globally.
