Advancing Ocean Science Through Horizon Europe
Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research and innovation funding program, with a budget of €93.5 billion (over $140B CAD) from 2021–2027. Canadian researchers can now participate on the same terms as EU Member States. The 2026–27 Work Programmes were released in December 2025, opening new opportunities in ocean science.

Copsys Technologies on its selection to the NATO DIANA Accelerator for its innovative Digital Skin technology.
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has also announced a $450,000 investment to support commercialization of Copsys’ Intelligent Digital Skin, helping position the province as a hub for advanced ocean and marine technologies. Designed to detect corrosion and structural stress, the technology has applications across marine, naval, and offshore sectors—demonstrating how innovation developed in Newfoundland and Labrador is making an impact on the global stage.
