Oceans Advance Newsletter – February 11, 2025

February is shaping up to be a busy month for Oceans Advance.

Executive Director, Shelly Petten, will take the stage at two major international conferences, the Blue Innovation Symposium 2025 in Rhode Island from February 10-13 and the Asia Multi-Sector Export Mission in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam from February 19-27. At the Blue Innovation Symposium, Shelly will be a panelist, along with colleagues from the US and UK, in a session to identify concerns and opportunities for cross Atlantic collaboration and to discuss solutions to roadblocks and challenges.

Following the Blue Innovation Symposium in Rhode Island, Shelly will travel to Singapore as a Canadian delegate in a multi sector trade mission focused on building Canada’s growing engagement in the Indo-Pacific region. Representing the Ocean Tech and Blue Economy for the Atlantic Canada ocean ecosystem, she will also moderate a session at the Canada in Asia Conference on Advancing the Blue Economy Through AI.

“I am very fortunate to have this opportunity to represent our province, region, and country at these conferences,” says Shelly. “I will be seeking opportunities to make further connections and open doors for our members, and for the ecosystem and will be sharing outcomes and opportunities to our members and partners when I get back to Canada.”
