KRAKEN DELIVERS DEEP-SEA SONAR SYSTEM TO FRAUNHOFER INSTITUTE

(TSX-V: PNG) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kraken Sonar Systems Inc. has delivered a deep-sea rated Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Sonar (INSAS) system to Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Exploitation (IOSB). OFFSHORE LABRADOR IS NOT A PLACE FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. So Judith Bobbitt felt completely in her element when, in 1978, she took her dream job as a physical oceanographer aboard an oil industry vessel. “At sea I felt completely at peace,” she says recalling her short career as a working member of the team collecting data on temperature, salinity, current speed, and interpreting it for multinational drilling operations in the Davis Strait and on the Labrador Shelf. ENHANCING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CAPABILITIES IN THE OFFSHORE

The Research & Development Corporation (RDC) is pleased to announce a $4.9 million investment in a multi-purpose survey, support and research and development vessel to be stationed in St. John’s. The total cost to design, build and operate such a vessel over a 10-year period is estimated at more than $100 million which will be funded by Fugro GeoSurveys (FGI). RDC’s investment directly targets the research and development capabilities, equipment and operations of the vessel, which will be built and operated by Fugro GeoSurveys. Read more.
