ATLANTIC BUSINESSES EXPLORING TRADE OPPORTUNITIES IN TRADE MISSIONS TO BRAZIL

September 19, 2012: Atlantic Canadian businesses and learning institutions will be making their way to Brazil over the coming weeks, as the Latin American country plays host to three separate business missions from the region. Two delegations will be attending international exhibitions, while another will work at recruiting Brazilian students to Atlantic Canadian institutions of higher learning and selling training services.

In January, when the Maxi Banque Populaire V—an ocean racing trimaran—shattered the world record for circumnavigating the globe (surpassing the old record by more than two days and clocking an average speed of 26.5 knots), another “first” was quietly being celebrated behind the scenes. This was the first time that altimeter data was used operationally to detect icebergs.

CALL FOR EOI ON REVIEW OF ICE LOADS ON FLOATING STRUCTURES

Petroleum Research invites expressions of interest to conduct a “State-of-the-Art Review of Ice Loads on Floating Structures” in support of a proposed Joint Industry Project (JIP) in this subject area. The objective of the JIP would be to advance the JIP participants’ level of knowledge about global ice loads on floating structures to improve station-keeping performance during operations in ice-prone environments.     Read more.
