City of St. John's Named as Canada's Sixth Most Friendly Place for Business

Canada Business and PROFIT magazines recently released the results from a survey of some 60 municipalities with populations of 15,000 or more, awarding each city scores on factors such as the cost of office space, the speed of processing a building permit, the percentage of residents, in addition to independent demographic and market data. St. John’s ranked sixth in the Most Business Friendly sub-list of the overall survey. Read more.

Newfoundland's Oceans Learning Partnership's Coastal Explorers Field School Named One of Five Winners in UL Innovative Education Award Program to Advance Environment and Stem Education

Oceans Learning Partnership’s Coastal Explorers Field School in Newfoundland, Canada, which operates a ‘floating classroom’ and onshore laboratories that give students in the Newfoundland and Labrador province opportunities to interact with marine environments in a scientific perspective, has been named one of the five winners in the second annual UL (Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.) Innovative Education Award program. The organization will receive a grant of $50,000. The Coastal Explorers Field School invites students to become marine scientists for the day. Read more.
