MUN RESEARCH PLAN AIMS TO ENHANCE ABILITY TO ADDRESS INDUSTRY NEEDS

CONNECTING INDUSTRY WITH BUSINESS RESEARCH AT MUN

(ST. JOHN'S, NL: Feb. 13, 2014) The business faculty at Memorial University has launched a research series to bring members of the business community together with faculty researchers in areas of relevance to local entrepreneurs.

Dr. Ginger Ke, Dr. Mary Furey and PhD candidate Ghazal Assadipour each gave presentations about their research into aspects of the transportation of hazardous materials, virtual decision-making and supply chain management during Engaging Ideas: Transporting Research into Practice on Feb. 13.

REVIEW OF MEMORIAL RESEARCH GRANT AND CONTRACT SUPPORT SERVICES RELEASED

A review of the research grant and contract support services offered by the Office of the Vice-President (Research) has been released for community consultation.

Dr. Richard Marceau, vice-president (research), initiated a study in July 2013 to develop a proposal for streamlining and formalizing the processes within the Office of the Vice-President (Research) related to research grant and contract support services. Almost 100 people participated in the review process.

VEITCH APPOINTED TO HUSKY ENERGY CHAIR IN OIL AND GAS RESEARCH

January 28, 2013, St. John's, NL: Memorial University’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science has a new research chair. Dr. Brian Veitch, a professor of ocean and naval architectural engineering, has been appointed the new Husky Energy Chair in Oil and Gas Research.

MUN'S NEXT VP RESEARCH ANNOUNCED

JANUARY 29, 2013: Dr. Richard Marceau will be the next vice-president (research) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. The appointment was announced today by Dr. Gary Kachanoski, Memorial’s president. Dr. Marceau will succeed Dr. Christopher Loomis. The appointment was approved by Memorial’s Board of Regents and is effective June 1, 2013.
