Virtual Marine Technology Inc. (VMT) and Petroleum Research Atlantic Canada (PRAC) have entered into a Consulting Services Agreement to develop advanced simulation technologies for the offshore oil and gas industry.  The Agreement represents the third round of investment in advanced simulation technologies by PRAC since 2005.

During the 18 month project, VMT and its research collaborators at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) will focus on further enhancing simulators designed to deliver safety and operations training. Key outcomes include: improvements to virtual training worlds for use in emergency egress exercises; the development of a davit hook simulator for use in lifeboat operation and maintenance training; and, the enhancement of ice covered water physics and modeling for use in real-time maritime simulation environments.
