October 21, 2011: After carefully considering the information received from ExxonMobil in response to his request for additional information, Commissioner Miller Ayre of the Hebron Public Review Commission has announced the dates for the Public Review Sessions. “I am satisfied that ExxonMobil has provided as much information as is needed to proceed with the Public Review Sessions,” says Commissioner Ayre.
The Public Review Sessions to review the merits of the Hebron Development Application are scheduled from November 21 to December 8, 2011 in St. John’s, Marystown, and Clarenville, and are organized around the four main issues under review: human safety, environmental protection, expected benefits of the project and the general approach to project development. “These issues are critical to us all, whether we work directly in the industry or not,” says Commissioner Ayre.
The Public Review Sessions are designed to hear directly what the public is interested in, and for the public to interact with ExxonMobil. The Sessions also give ExxonMobil the opportunity to explain the project.
“As Commissioner, I can ask questions as issues arise. Individuals and groups can present their views at the Sessions, and ask questions,” says the Commissioner, “The sessions will have formality in that the groups and individuals who wish to participate have to provide written information, but the atmosphere will be much less formal than a courtroom-type environment.”
Participants are referred to the Commission’s website to register for the sessions. The deadline to submit a written submission is Nov. 14, 2011.
