The Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development announced two calls for applications for commercial clients. The call for applications closes October 31, 2011. These programs may be of interest to members of the ocean technology industry.

Calls for applications were issued by the Technology Utilization Program and by the Innovate and Demonstrate Program.

The Call for Applications under the Technology Utilization Program is aimed at attracting applications from businesses with established products and services offering assistance aimed at increasing technology capacity to improve business processes, product quality, competitiveness and energy efficiency. The program provides a non-repayable contribution of up to 80% of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $100,000. This call for applications closes on October 31, 2011.

The Call for Applications under the Innovate and Demonstrate Program pertain to supports that enable enables businesses to demonstrate and showcase their early stage, innovative products, services and technologies within the public sector. Each project will take the form of a demonstration in a public sector environment. The program provides a non-repayable contribution to eligible applicants to a maximum of $50,000  per project. This call for applications closes on October 31, 2011.

In addition, the OceanTech Global Program has been expanded to include all strategic sectors and the eligible activities have been expanded to include incoming trade and business initiatives. While the program’s name has been changed to Global Travel the budget for ocean tech clients remains the same.
