The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) through the Oil Spill Response Technology Joint Industry Programme (JIP), founded in January at the Arctic Frontiers Conference in Tromsø, Norway, has already begun research and development procurement activities. Solicitation for Expressions of Interest (EoI) were recently issued for:

  • Project 3 – Environmental Impacts from Arctic Oil Spills and Arctic Spill Response Technologies
  • Project 5 – Oil Spill Detection and Mapping in Low Visibility and
  • Ice Request for Information for Remote Sensing and Mapping Technologies (to support Project 5)

About the Oil Spill Response Technology Joint Industry Programme (JIP): This collaborative research endeavour will expand industry knowledge of, and capabilities in Arctic oil spill prevention and response. Nine major oil companies are sponsoring the programme: BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Eni, ExxonMobil, North Caspian Oil Company, Shell, Statoil, and Total.
