Oceans Advance has scheduled the next in its popular series of Roundtable Presentations. They have issued an open invitation to members of the Ocean Technology Cluster to attend the presentation by Neil Cater on Thur., Nov. 24 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Institute for Ocean Technology.

The R&D manager for the LOOKNorth Project, Cater will provide a program overview and will highlight the opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises and for researchers in the local ocean cluster. And true to the forum of the Roundtable, Carter will will also be seeking feedback and consultation from OA members on how LOOKNorth can support their initiatives throughout its five year mandate.

The LOOKNorth program (Leading Operational Observations and Knowledge for the North) is hosted by C-CORE and, consistent with the successful Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) model, seeks to link research and development activity with Canada’s economic and social well-being. 

LOOKNorth’s vision is to commercialize technologies that address stakeholders’ knowledge requirements for the successfuil development of northern natural resources.

In December 2010, LOOKNorth received designation as a CECR from the Network of Centres of Excellence, one of twenty-seven Centres designated.
