They are at it again. The City of St. John’s and OceansAdvance are co-sponsoring another in the informative Speakers’ Series breakfast events. At this one you’ll have an opportunity to get an overview of marine safety technologies for extreme environments from one of the leading scientists in this field, Antonio Simões Ré, Senior Research Engineer, NRC – Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering.

So if you have an interest in this field, and in the entreprenurial opportunties that may arise for the technologies, or if you are looking to network with like-minded researchers and businesses and entrepreneurs in this field, then you need to mark this date on your calendar:

During his presentation on Marine Safety Technologies for Extreme Environments Overview (MSTEE) Simões Ré will describe the history of the program from the ad hoc projects of the mid 1980’s, such as the Esperanto Capsule (now Ovatek) to the fully integrated research program of today, evaluating and assessing lifesaving appliances destined for frontier regions using Engineering and Human Factors criteria.

For the entrepreneur in you Simões Ré will also provide an overview of how research results have led to new business ideas that, in some cases, have reached commercialization.
