Companies from Newfoundland and Labrador interested in becoming vendors to the international shipyard consortium Damen ShipYards Group, should plan to be in St. John’s February 10 – 13. That’s when company officials will be in town to meet with potential vendors to discuss opportunities and make company site visits to get a feel for the goods and services available in the provincial shipbuilding and supply sector.
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador recently selected Damen Shipyards group for the construction of the two new 80 meter ferries for the Fogo Island and Change Islands, and Bell Island services. It is for these two new ferries that the Damen Shipyards group has organized the business mission to St. John’s, NL to identify potential vendors for the supply of goods and services. Where successful relationships are established those vendors would also be considered for future projects within Canada, and throughout the rest of the world.
On the first two days of the mission, February 10 and 11, the representatives are inviting vendors to the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland, in downtown St. John’s. On the second two days, February 12 and 13, Damen representatives plan to visit the locations of interested companies.
