The Aerospace & Defence Industry Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (ADIANL) today announced plans for an annual Maritime and Arctic Security Conference (MAS13) and called for papers and presentations.

MAS13 will be held November 12 -13, 2013 at the Delta Hotel in St. John’s, NL. An optional third day (14 Nov) is also being planned for organized visits to local educational institutions and research and development organizations.

As part of its announcment the conference organizers invited the submission of papers and presentations relevant to Maritime and Arctic Security. They especially encouraged submissions targeting this year’s conference theme: The Challenge The Technology The People. Areas for consideration include:

  • Maritime Domain Awareness
  • Northern Security & Sovereignty
  • Technologies Applications for Harsh Environments
  • Surveillance/Protection of Critical Maritime Approaches
  • Maritime Law Enforcement
  • Energy Security
  • Maritime & Arctic Search & Rescue
  • Environmental Protection (Detection)
  • Safety of Operations at Sea

A volume of MAS13 committee-screened and approved papers will be published for distribution at the conference.  The author(s) of selected papers will also be invited to present at the conference. There is no pre-defined page limit, however, all submissions should be in keeping with the conference theme.

Those attendees who will not be submitting a paper but wish to make a presentation should submit an abstract of no more than 200 words through the submission page on the Conference website (See NOTE below). The names and affiliations of all authors should be provided, with the presenting author isted first. All accepted ‘presentation-only’ abstracts will be printed in the Conference Program.

Abstracts for Presentations and Paper submissions are due by Friday 31 May 2013.

If you are interested in participating, please follow instructions provided on the MAS13  whne it goes live in early April, 2013.

NOTE: The MAS13 website www.maritimearcticsecurity.ca will be live in early April at which time those interested in the conference my register, and submit papers and abstracts.
