Kraken Named To Marine Technology Top 100

Kraken Sonar Systems Inc. has again been named by Marine Technology Reporter to the MTR100 2017 -- a list of the 100 most influential companies in the international marine technology marketplace. This is the fifth year in a row that Kraken has been selected.   In addition to being named to the MTR 100, Kraken was listed as one of the top 17 Technology Disruptors in the marine technology industry for its Robotics as a Service business model.   Read more.

Memorial welcomes new vice-president (research)

Memorial University has appointed Dr. Neil Bose as vice-president (research). The Board of Regents approved the appointment at its meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 9. Dr. Bose was selected following an intensive international search by a committee chaired by the university’s president and vice-chancellor Gary Kachanoski that included faculty, staff and students, and representation from Memorial’s three campuses.   Dr. Bose begins his tenure on Nov. 1, 2017. Downstream maintenance expenditure returns to growth

As highlighted in the most recent edition of Westwood’s World Downstream Maintenance Market Forecast, significant price pressure during the oil price downturn has heavily impacted the downstream maintenance market. Global downstream maintenance spend bottomed out in 2016, after falling 26% compared to 2014 levels. Westwood believes that the downstream maintenance market is at the beginning of a recovery cycle. 2017 saw improvements which will be sustained over the forecast with year-on-year growth expected over 2018-2022.   Read more.
