As the Project Manager for Skills Development & Training at Saint Mary’s University I am looking to find up to five businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador, to offer support behind an upcoming project called Work Smarts.

This program would bring recent graduate talents to organizations and offers a wage subsidy and training program to participants, in the aim of providing career-related work experience. Having previously run this project the past years, and an opportunity came up for potential renewal, so it’’s proposal time!

About Work Smarts:
This program offers a subsidized employment program matching post-secondary graduates with businesses seeking expertise and new perspectives while keeping an eye on the bottom line. Work Smarts offers employers the opportunity to attract eager young talent at a dramatically reduced rate.

Developed with the objective of providing career experiences for post-secondary graduates, Work Smarts provides opportunities for graduates to apply skills developed in school in environments consistent with their education.

Work Smarts provides:

  • A salary subsidy for selected participants (based on a 35hr work week) – up to 7 month term
  • Training for participants to enhance the work experience
  • Advice and monitoring throughout the program ensuring participants and employers receive the best possible experience
  • Assistance for employers with job posting and short listing of candidates
