On behalf of OceansAdvance and partners across the country, I am delighted to share that Canada’s Ocean Supercluster has approved our Expression of Interest to the recent Call for Proposals.

On to round two ! Together with industry, research, academic, government and non-profit partners across the country, we look forward to developing a compelling proposal to organize and host the first Canadian Women in Oceans Industries Leadership Conference in 2021.

Today, women comprise only 2% of the global marine and ocean industry. According to research from McKinsey, by advancing women’s economic empowerment, Canada can add $150B in incremental GDP by 2026. To enable and accelerate Canada’s leadership and contribution to the ocean sector, it is critical to attract, develop and retain a robust, diverse and inclusive talent pipeline that includes women from every walk of life. The proposed conference will directly address these critical objectives. Together, we can significantly bolster our impact on our ocean tech industry, research, academia and our national economy.
