There is available online an excellent video presentation on the importance of oceans to Canada and to Canada’s role as a leader in sustainable oceans development. This 45-minute presentation, delivered by IOC’s Assistant Director General Dr. Wendy Watson-Wright, on the occasion of her visit to Canada, October 25, 2012, makes a powerful statement on the importance of oceans to the world and in particular to Canada, and on the opportunities in the “blue-green economy.” Assistant Director-General and Executive Secretary, Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, Dr. Watson-Wright is well informed on ocean technology and marine research in Canada.
In her email giving permission to post this link she wrote that she is well aware that “Memorial is a key institute in Canada in ocean science.”
Her presentation entitled An Ocean of Potential: a UN Perspective on Canada’s Leadership Opportunities was delivered for the Canadian Commission for UNESCO which organized the presentation.
