    OceansAdvance Newly Elected Officers 2017

    The OceansAdvance AGM was held Monday, January 30, 2017 in St. John’s at the National Research Council’s – Oceans, Coastal and River Engineering research facility.

     

    During the AGM, Honorable Minister Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry, and Innovation, delivered a motivational keynote address updating the OceansAdvance membership on provincial support for the Ocean Technology sector and continuing support of the OceansAdvance cluster.

     

    In addition, Cathy Hogan, OceansAdvance Executive Director (A) addressed the voting members, emphasizing that the support from members, the province, and partners both locally and regionally, is indicative of the continued growth of the sector.  She highlighted numerous strategies and initiatives both locally and regionally like the Atlantic Growth Strategy and the Atlantic Cluster Initiative, which speak to the increasing interest in and strength of the Ocean Technology sector.

     

    Once the Election of Officers was complete and the votes were tallied, Michael Maguire, Board Chair of OceansAdvance Inc., identified the newly elected members as:

     

    1. Angela Porter, Business Development Manager, Allswater Marine Consultants
    2. Russell Pelley, President, Executive Management, GRi Simulations Inc.
    3. Michael Maguire, Senior Consultant of Currach Consulting, (re-elected for second term)


    Mr. Maguire, on behalf of the OceansAdvance Inc. board and staff, thanked the outgoing board members, Mark Murphy of NRC-OCRE and Sam Bromley of Whitecap Scientific, for their outstanding contributions to the growth of the cluster and offered sincere thanks for their hard work and dedication during their two year tenure. He continued in thanking all candidates and welcomed the newly elected members to the board. He closed in saying that the newly formed group is diverse, will bring additional expertise to the board, and that we look forward to working with in assisting with domestic and international growth of the cluster.
