As our organization is keen to support key initiatives undertaken by Memorial University of Newfoundland, OceansAdvance is pleased to announce that Dr. Rob Greenwood, Executive Director, Public Engagement for Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada and of The Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development will be the keynote speaker for for 2015 AGM. Dr. Greenwood is lead on the Public Engagement Framework for the University, which coordinates and supports the University’s collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

Dr. Greenwood will present on Memorial University’s Cold Ocean and Arctic Science, Technology and Society (COASTS), a pan-university initiative designed to coordinate and communicate Memorial’s world-leading research, teaching and public engagement relating to oceans, northern and North Atlantic Rim people, industry and environment.

In the year since its inception, COASTS has undertaken broad consultation with stakeholders inside and outside the university, along with significant work connecting government and industry needs with Memorial expertise (leading to a number of follow-up projects.)

As COASTS moves into its next phase, a number of goals have been identified, including creating further projects related to Memorial’s COASTS strengths, building connections between Memorial and public partners, coordinating collaboration within the university, and communicating our role as a global leader in COASTS,research, teaching, and public engagement.
