Guest speaker for this event is Antonio Simões Ré, Senior Research Engineer – NRC – OCRE – Ocean Coastal and River Engineering (formerly Institute for Ocean Technology)

 Simões Ré will give an overview of the  Marine Safety Technologies for Extreme Environments (MSTEE). The history of the program from the early days of ad hoc  projects in the mid 1980’s, such as the Esperanto Capsule (now Ovatek) to a fully integrated research program evaluating and assessing lifesaving appliances destined for frontier regions using Engineering and Human Factors criteria. Also an overview of how research results have lead to new business ideas that in some cases have reached commercialization.
