DATE: June 16 – 19
LOCATION:Tromso, Norway

The ICES Symposium on “Effects of fishing on benthic fauna, habitat, and ecosystem function”will take place in June  16-19, 2014 in Tromso, Norway. The input of Canadian scientists and industry are anticipated to add an effective and experienced voice at this exciting symposium .

Although this is a scientific symposium, there will be sessions on gear development (e.g. design of fishing gear to make less damage to the bottom), as well as exhibition stands where industry can showcase their products and/or projects. The cost for these industry exhibition stands is set as NOK 3000 -Norwegian krones-, which is around $500-550 Canadian dollars, and the money raised with them will support student travel.

The symposium website provides more detail on symposium content and activities. This website is being updated with new information as it emerges. For example people will soon be able to submitting abstracts, and register for the symposium through this website.
