Titan Submersible

In January 2018, OceanGate completed construction of Titan, formerly known as Cyclops 2, a 5-person submersible designed to dive to depths of 4000 meters. Once validation testing is complete, Titan will be the only privately owned manned submersible in the world that is capable of reaching this depth.   Read more.

Westwood Insight: Northwest Europe Exploration Drilling – 2017 Results and 2018 Outlook

A ten year low in oil discoveries in Norway in 2017 doesn’t deter an expected increase in drilling in 2018, whilst performance continues to improve in the UK with the focus switching to gas for 2018.   In 2017, there was a shift towards high impact exploration drilling in both the UK and Norway. Norway saw a concerted effort of 10 exploration wells in the Arctic Barents Sea region and there were also five high impact tests in the UK North Sea, which is unusual for such a mature basin.   Read more.

Downstream maintenance expenditure returns to growth

As highlighted in the most recent edition of Westwood’s World Downstream Maintenance Market Forecast, significant price pressure during the oil price downturn has heavily impacted the downstream maintenance market. Global downstream maintenance spend bottomed out in 2016, after falling 26% compared to 2014 levels. Westwood believes that the downstream maintenance market is at the beginning of a recovery cycle. 2017 saw improvements which will be sustained over the forecast with year-on-year growth expected over 2018-2022.   Read more.
